Kennecott Utah Copper is willing to make amends to the taxpayers of Salt Lake County. To end a dispute over access to its mineral claims under county-owned land in Rose Canyon, Kennecott has offered $5.3 million for 800 acres of the west-side wildlands. The County Council, which approved the deal in principle this week, should finalize the sale without delay.
