The battles over controls and oversight of the oil-and-gas industry — being fought in city councils and the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission — have arrived at the legislature.

As many as a dozen bills aimed at more tightly controlling oil and gas operations in the state are expected to be filed in coming weeks, say lawmakers, oil-industry representatives and environmentalists.

The first bill, SB 202, seeking to have every oil and gas facility in the state inspected once a year, was filed last week by Sen. Matt Jones, D-Louisville. On Monday, three more bills were introduced.
