In a sometimes testy meeting, the Ravalli County commission took what could be the last public comment on its proposed natural resource use policy.

Most of the public commentary came from a group challenging the county’s attempt to develop a policy commissioners say will be used to help guide them in future dealings with public lands managers.

A group of eight Bitterroot Valley residents has offered the commission its own version of a resource policy it wants included in the final policy. They worry the county may be overstepping its bounds and may be headed to something akin to the Sagebrush Rebellion, where the county would attempt to take control of public lands.
