The Bureau of Land Management's latest auction of federal oil and gas leases in Wyoming has generated more than $8.7 million.

Leasing rights on 66 parcels totaling about 85,000 acres were offered at the auction Tuesday. The highest bid per acre was $3,500 per acre for a parcel that went for $1.4 million.

The state of Wyoming gets about half of the bid and rental receipt money generated by the auction.
