The U.S. Bureau of Land Management will put 721 million tons of coal in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming up for sale June 28.

The BLM will open for sale the North Porcupine tract, nearly a 10 square-mile area adjacent to St. Louis-based Peabody Energy Corp.'s North Antelope Rochelle coal mine.

A Peabody subsidiary first applied to the BLM for the land to be leased in 2006.
